DB Schenker transports the largest luxury yacht at the “boot 2013” boat show to the Düsseldorf Exhibition Center

Countdown to the world’s largest watersports show * Seven million euro “Princess” from the UK heads to shore * Trade Fair Logistics and Special Transport departments join forces

DBSCHENKER125Frankfurt am Main/Düsseldorf, January 7, 2013 – Using heavy-duty towing equipment, the specialists at DB Schenker safely hauled the largest luxury yacht on display at the “boot 2013” boat show – a 30 meter, 95 metric ton Princess 98’ MY – from the Rhine River to its place in Hall 6 at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Center today. Visitors from around the world will have a chance to marvel at the nearly seven million euro motor yacht from the UK between January 19 and 27, 2013, at the world’s largest watersports show. At the event some 1,600 exhibitors from over 50 countries will show off their innovations, including almost 1,700 large and small boats, in 16 different themed areas.

Logisticians at Schenker Deutschland AG began planning, developing solutions and working out transport routes, and booking the necessary heavy-duty equipment around six months ahead of the show to make sure that all exhibits are in place on opening day. According to Ulrich Zähres, who is responsible for trade fair logistics for “boot 2013” at DB Schenker in Düsseldorf, “When it comes to logistics, safety has priority over speed, and not only for expensive luxury yachts like the Princess 98. That’s why we offer our extensive specialized knowledge in all areas of logistics to shipyards, boat outfitters and their customers before, during and after the show. Our employees organize the entire transport over land and sea, from the shipyard to the show and onward to the end customer.” DB Schenker’s experienced logistics team manages on-time delivery of even the largest exhibits and makes transfer teams, pontoons, loading cranes and other special equipment available.

Customers benefit from close cooperation among the trade fair and special transport experts at DB Schenker. Employees in the Special Transport department of Schenker Deutschland AG, which is located in Hagen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, are available for all transports involving non-standard weights or sizes, like the oversized Princess. The logisticians cooperate closely with customers and colleagues in the specialist departments to design transport solutions, schedule special equipment such as heavy-duty tractors, flatbed trailers, air cushion lift systems and mobile cranes, and conduct out-of-the-ordinary transports throughout Germany.
